The ISB Summer Program: Seeking Spanish & French Bilingual Counselors

The ISB Summer Program is a fun place for any individual who enjoys being around children and helping guide their social and language development. At ISB, we strive to maintain a nurturing, yet stimulating and relaxed environment and we are looking for staff members who have a similar vision. The ISB Summer Program runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm starting June 25th, 2018 to August 3rd, 2018.

ISB seeks Bilingual Counselors for Summer Language Immersion Program

We are looking for counselors who are dedicated to making every day a memorable experience for the children participating. Our goal is to find Counselors who are comfortable leading children (of varied language proficiencies) through engaging language experiences. The use of English is kept to a minimum, limited to social-emotional needs as per Counselors’ discretion. Each week is built around a different theme and Counselors are expected to plan all activities around this theme, as a team. Counselors are required to lead and assist groups of students around fun, athletic, and creative arts activities throughout the day. Activities for children include water games, cooking, arts & crafts, field trips, sports, drama and group games. Strong communication skills, energy, patience and stamina are all critical for success in this rewarding position. Our staff must be comfortable with ongoing peer collaboration and constructive supervisory feedback. College students and graduate students in Bilingual Education track are preferred.

Head and Junior Counselor positions are available.

Qualification requirements:

  • Applicants must be fluent in French or Spanish.
  • Head Counselors must have previous and positive experience working with children ages 3 to 7 in similar environments (i.e. school, after-school, day care, camp settings).
  • Junior Counselors should have positive previous experience working with children ages 3 to 7 in small group environment (e.g. babysitting, volunteering, student-teaching fieldwork).
  • All Candidates should be creative, personable, energetic, engaging (must participate in all physical activities) and team-oriented.
  • Counselors with a skill/training in one or more of the following areas: dance, sports, theater, singing, will be strongly considered.

Training: All counselors must attend training sessions (May and June) prior to the start of the Summer Program.
