Special Music School: Middle and/or High School Spanish Teacher

| July 19, 2016

Special Music School is a groundbreaking New York City public school for musically gifted children that combines rigorous academics with intensive music education. Located on New York’s Upper West Side near Lincoln Center, SMS is the only public school in the U.S. that offers pre-professional music studies beginning in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

We will become a K-12 community in 2016, as our high school graduates its first class of twenty-first century musicians.  We are seeking passionate educators with an appreciation for music, but please note musical experience is not required.

Successful candidates will:

  • Engage students with a variety of instructional resources that help to foster a twenty-first century learning environment.

  • Design creative, rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum.

  • Maintain close relationships with colleagues, music faculty and families, creating clear channels for communication about students.

  • Keep accurate assessment records and develop systems for students to receive timely and specific feedback.

  • Continually reflect on meaningful classroom pedagogy and practices as a part of our active professional development community.

We are currently hiring both a full-time and a part-time Middle and High School Spanish teacher.
