Spanish Teacher, Leave Replacement

| March 26, 2015
The New York City Lab School for Collaborative Studies (nyclabschool.org) is seeking an experienced Spanish teacher to serve as a leave replacement beginning in the 2015-16 school year.  It would be ideal if applicants have ELL certification too.

At The Lab School we develop each student’s ability to soar intellectually and to act bravely in our complex world community. This teacher’s program will likely include Spanish 1 & 2, Spanish 7 & 8 with at least two sections of ICT instruction. Lab School classes are intellectually rigorous while featuring students with a range of demonstrated skill sets.

Preferred candidates will feel confident in their ability to:

  • Differentiate instruction within all class sections.
  • Develop students’ Spanish Language reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Spanish Department and in an interdisciplinary manner when planning for whole-school experiences.
  • Develop students’ Habits of Mind and Social-Emotional learning (SEL) competencies in alignment with our school-wide curriculum.
  • Model and create conditions for intellectualism, empathy and a deep regard for Spanish language and culture.
Candidates should send cover letter and resume to Mark Berkowitz, Assistant Principal, at mberkow5@nyclabschool.org
