| July 18, 2017

PS 139 in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn is seeking passionate Spanish Dual Language teachers to work with us as we continue to build and strengthen our dual language program.

PS 139 is an inclusive learning community that serves 1000 children and families who speak over 20 languages and represent dozens of vibrant cultures. Under the leadership of Mary McDonald, faculty, administration and families collaborate closely to provide all children with progressive instruction from compassionate teachers and abundant enrichment opportunities such as dance, yoga, chess, urban farming and orchestra.

In September 2017, the Spanish dual language program will start its 4th year with 5 full classes from Pre-K through 3rd grade. Children enrolled in the program progress together towards Spanish/English fluency.  Each dual language class is strategically enrolled so that there is a 50/50 ratio of children who are native speakers in English and Spanish. The program is catching a lot of attention across the district and the demand for dual language placement is high.

Our dual language teaching team at PS 139 are uniquely dedicated to multi-cultural and dual language education. They integrate social-emotional learning and empathy into their practice every day. They have a pioneering spirit and work hard as a collective to ensure that this important program continues to grow and thrive. If you are a driven dual language teacher who thrives in a creative and collaborative atmosphere, please send your resume and a note about your interest to Jessica Dowshen at Jessica is an active parent within the PS 139 dual language program who is helping to find strong candidates. She can help expedite consideration and can answer any questions.
