ROLE PLAY AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION IN LANGUAGE EDUCATION WORKSHOP

| March 31, 2016

Dear Bilingual/Bicultural Education program,

I’m writing to invite you and your students to a workshop we have organized next week that I believe may be of interest in the context of bilingual education and especially for programs with a bicultural focus. The workshop is called “Role play and multidisciplinary collaboration in language education” and focuses on a form of long form immersion role playing games used to teach history at Barnard and hundreds of other colleges but that has remained largely unknown in other departments. We are hoping to help demonstrate how this kind of interaction can be a powerful tool for language instruction and a useful framework for integrating language instruction with other fields and classes.

The workshop is from 3:00-5:00pm next Wednesday at the LRC. Full details are available here: http://www.lrc.columbia.edu/2016-reacting-to-the-past

Best wishes,
Ian
