About the Organization
Global Language Project (GLP) is an educational nonprofit that works with public elementary schools to set up and maintain second language programs to empower students to compete in a globalized world and workforce.

About the Position
Currently, we have two open part-time Mandarin teacher positions.

Position 1:

The instructors will work with students in grades K – 3rd at a school in East Harlem. The instructors will work on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:45pm – 4:45pm.

Position 2:

The instructor will work with students in grades 2nd – 5th at a school is Hamilton Heights. The classes will be from 2:40pm – 3:40pm, but the days of the week are flexible and could be combined with position 1.

Through GLP language programs, students are introduced to language through interactive instruction, cultural activities, music and games. The emphasis is on oral communication and learning about other cultures.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Helps students, individually and in groups, with creative and well integrated lesson plans
• Communicates effectively with supervisors, parents, students and partner schools
• Maintains quality results by following and enforcing standards

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Experience in foreign language teaching
• Experience working with elementary aged children
• Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Success in incorporating creative, hands-on art and music based activities, as well as other co-operative learning activities

Compensation: $20-30/hr depending on experience
