BBE Students in the New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE)’s 37th annual conference ☆

Students in the Bilingual/Bicultural Education Program participated in the New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE)’s 37th annual conference on March 8th in a presentation organized by Prof. Martínez-Roldán and Dr. Ya-ning Hsu.The presentation was entitled “Teacher Candidates’ Stories on Supporting Chinese-and Spanish-Speaking Students’ Learning within a STEM Curriculum.”
Eliza Clark, Elizabeth Ma, Liz Vasallo, and Xiaojun Xie shared stories about their work as participants in the Pedagogy of Social Imagination in Language Learning and Teaching (PSILLT) project in which they engaged in teaching bilingual learners in two bilingual schools: a Chinese/English elementary bilingual school and a Spanish/English elementary bilingual school. The curriculum was organized around STEM learning in which there was an emphasis on multimodal experiences in Chinese or Spanish. Our four BBE students made us very proud. Congratulations!
