Middle School Principal
Roosevelt Children’s Academy Charter School

To provide effective instructional leadership for the building and manage those activities that contributes to the effectiveness of the total instructional program. Enhance the overall improvement of instruction, especially in the area of MATH and ELA and increase student performance for the students in the building. Foster change and supplement the implementation of a comprehensive Staff Discipline Policy for the children.

The Middle School Principal is responsible for the following duties:
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Middle School concept of education
• Develop and maintain positive staff moral
• Exhibit effective human relation skills within the education environment
• Provide for adequate supervision and acceptable student behavior for the Middle School level
• Effectively communicates with others.
• Manage time effectively
• Facilitate Data Team Meetings
• Effectively supervise the instructional performance of the professional staff through frequent and ongoing observation and evaluation
• Develop and implement administrative procedures consistent with federal law, state charter school law, state charter school institute and local board policy
• Support teachers in maximizing the utilization of teacher assistants as part of a group work activities and student interventions
• Exhibit effective human relation skills within the educational environment
• Provide adequate supervision and acceptable student behavior for the Middle School students
• Develop and implement administrative procedures consistent with federal law, state charter school institute and local board policy
• Support teachers in maximizing the utilization of teacher assistants as part of group work activities and student interventions
• Make parent calls as necessary
• Orient new students to school and maintain high level of visibility/availability to all students
• Coordinate with the staff to implement activities and events
• Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues address concerns and offer suggestions in a tactful and professional manner
• Support board decisions and direction relative to matters of the school’s policy and safety policy which includes implementing safety to the staff
• Provide a monthly newsletter

Qualifications:
• Master Degree
• NYS Administrative Certificate or commitment towards
• Data Training Certification
• Strong background in the theory and practice of Middle school education
• Excellent written, oral, organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrate ability to share knowledge collaboratively
• Experience in demonstrating effective classroom/student teaching instruction
• Team Player

Hours/Paid Days Off/Benefits/Expectations:
• Salary as presented by the Board of Trustees.
• At minimum an eight hour day, with hours determined by the Superintendent and the Principal
• The position is required to report three weeks before the beginning of the academic school year and is dismissed one week after the end of the academic school year
• The position will receive paid days off for holidays and school recesses as indicated in the school calendar, and will receive three weeks paid summer vacation.
• This position will receive the same benefit plan as the other regular full time salaried school employees (e.g. principal, teachers and administrators).
