Lead Teacher, French Immersion Pre-Kindergarten Class

Job description

This position leads the French immersion pre-Kindergarten classroom. The successful candidate is a native speaker of French, a trained early childhood teacher, and has at least two years of classroom experience. Our integrated curriculum has a strong emphasis on science and the arts through experiential learning, hands-on projects, games, and collaborative problem solving.

The following qualifications are required:

-Native fluency in French

-Master’s degree in education, child development, or other related field (or equivalent experience)

-At least two years teaching experience with children between the ages of 3 and 5

-Highly dynamic, hands-on style

-NOTE: NYS certification NOT REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience teaching with progressive methods (Bank Street, constructivist, Montessori, child-led / project-based, Waldorf/Steiner, Freinet, etc.)

-Experience teaching mixed-age and -ability classrooms

-Background in science or art
