Job At CUNY Lehman College

| May 1, 2015

Dear Bilingual / Bicultural Education alumni and current students:

The nationally accredited M.S. Ed. TESOL program at Lehman College/ City University of New York (CUNY) largely serves candidates who are in-service and prospective PreK-12 ESOL teachers working in the Bronx and lower Westchester.   We also have a Bilingual Extension which serves teachers Birth-grade 12, and our TESOL and Bilingual courses often overlap. We are situated in a vibrant, predominantly Spanish-language community, but Bronx students speak 150 languages, so if you are looking for a diverse teaching experience, come to Lehman!

We are currently seeking qualified adjuncts to teach courses in (a) pedagogical (not theoretical) sentence-level English grammar; and (b) secondary TESOL methods (grades 7-12) — teaching language and literacy to a range of grades 7-12 ELLs.   Other courses in Bilingual Education and TESOL may be available in the spring, summer, or fall of 2016.

Candidates must have completed an M.A. in TESOL, Bilingual Education or related field and should have experience teaching ESL / bilingual education in diverse PreK-12 schools.    Familiarity with the Common Core ELA standards and Home Language Progressions is a plus.

Lehman is accessible via the #1/9 subway + the Bx10 bus (at the corner of the celebrated S & S cheesecake store), the D train or the 4 train (Kingsbridge or Bedford Park stops).    Lehman’s campus was the first home of the United Nations and WACs and WAVES trained there during WWII.  Our spectacular campus has been called “the jewel of CUNY” and is close the Bronx Botanical Gardens, Fordham Road shopping, and Arthur Ave.’s famed “Little Italy.”

Interested candidates should forward their CV and a letter of introduction, no later than Friday, May 8, to
