POSITION SUMMARY:

PPNYC’s Promotores de Salud are committed to serving as leaders or role models and empowering women in the Latin American community. Warm, friendly, outgoing and naturally able to make others feel comfortable and at ease by being patient and good listeners. They are familiar with prevailing attitudes toward sexual and reproductive health issues among Latin American women.

Promotores are responsible for conducting outreach and providing workshops at various community venues such as community based organizations, consulates, Laundromats, and salons throughout target communities in the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens. Promote and provide referrals to PPNYC’s clinical, educational, and advocacy programs. Responsible for providing assistance to patients in the PPNYC health center waiting room. Assists with administrative duties as needed and performs other educational and experience related duties as required. Must be fluent in Spanish and Latin American customs and cultural norms. Flexibility in work schedule is essential.

How do I become a Promotor/a?

  1. Complete an application
  2. Attend an in-person interview
  3. Successful completion of training provided by PPNYC on various sexual and reproductive health issues, outreach, and facilitation skills (if selected after the interview)
