ESOL Teaching and Education Coordinator Opportunities

| January 25, 2019
The Academy of Medical & Public Health Services (AMPHS) a public health not-for-profit health service organization based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn that works with underserved immigrant communities to identify barriers to healthcare and help them develop the agency to advocate for their own rights. AMPHS is expanding its Adult Literacy program in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where we primarily serve members of the Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic-speaking communities. We are currently seeking candidates for several new opportunities, including:
  • ESOL Instructors (Part-Time) – Instructors will teach with our program at one of the following levels: Beginner, High Beginner, Intermediate, and/or Advanced. Classes are scheduled to take place during the daytime, evenings, and Saturdays for 6 hours per week (weekday classes are divided into 2 days).
  • Coordinator of Literacy, Education and Training Programs (Full-Time) – The Coordinator will help coordinate logistics and plans for our different immigrant training programs, the Adult Literacy Program inclusive.
  • ESOL Volunteer Tutors – We are seeking volunteer ESOL tutors that can provide one-on-one or small group instruction 1-3 hours per week for (majority) Beginner level students, as well as High Beginner and Intermediate students as needed.
This is an incredible opportunity to join a growing, community-driven public health organization working to advocate for and empower our immigrant communities through the English language. We are seeking to bring on a new team at the end of January, so please share widely.
