CPET seeks Federal Work Study Program Assistant

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Center for the Professional Education of Teachers (http://www.tc.edu/cpet) is seeking a matriculated Teachers College student who is registered for at least 6 credits to provide support as a Program Assistant for CPET and its three initiatives: Studies in Educational Innovation (SEI), Secondary Literacy Institute (SLI), and Student Press Initiative (SPI).

This position will begin on July 14, 2014 and will average 12-15 hours per week.

Primary responsibilities include:
– Provide clerical support to CPET administrators and CPET’s three initiatives, including, but not limited to: answering phones, responding to requests for information, monitoring departmental email, general filing and copying
– Collaborate with CPET administrators, initiative leads and coaches to complete time-sensitive projects
– Assist Program Coordinator with event coordination: secure catering, rooms, and technology for events, prepare materials & handouts, assist with setup and cleanup on day of event
– Prepare workshop and meeting materials for facilitators and participants
– Liaison with multiple offices at Teachers College: Duplicating, CulinArt, Financial Aid, Accounts Payable, etc. to complete projects and resolve questions/concerns
– Help to maintain spreadsheets & databases that ensure functionality of department
– Assist with updates on department website and newsletter
– Provide support on CPET research projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
-At least 1 year of administrative experience;
-Ability to produce accurate work while managing multiple priorities and deadlines;
-Proficient in Word, Excel, and Google docs; ability to adapt to additional departmental systems as needed (applicants will be required to demonstrate knowledge during interview process);
-Must have been awarded federal work-study for the term in which a work-study position is being sought;
-Must be a student matriculated in a TC degree program;
-Must be taking at least 6 credits (or equivalent, which includes full-time equivalent offerings – HBSK 6480, CCPJ 6480, CCPX 6480, or any 8900 course);
-Must be able to abide by the Student Confidentiality Agreement;
-Must be able to abide by the Student Privacy Requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Weebly, Mailchimp and Basecamp;
Experience working in TC office a plus;
Ability to prioritize tasks and complete time-sensitive material;
Able to work both independently and collaboratively depending on project needs.

**PLEASE NOTE: This is a FWS-funded position. You must be eligible for federal work-study during the 2014-15 academic year in order to be considered for this position.** (Full-time TC employees are not eligible for this position.)
