Co-Teacher, French Immersion Pre-Kindergarten

Job description

This position collaborates with the head teacher in our French immersion pre-Kindergarten. The successful candidate is a native speaker of French and a trained elementary school teacher. Our integrated curriculum has a strong emphasis on science and the arts through experiential learning, hands-on projects, games, and collaborative problem solving.

The following qualifications are required:

-Native fluency in French

-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

-Highly dynamic, hands-on style

-NOTE: NYS certification NOT REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

-Master’s degree in education, child development, or other related field (or equivalent experience)

-Experience teaching with progressive methods (Bank Street, constructivist, Montessori, child-led / project-based, Waldorf/Steiner, Freinet, etc.)
-Experience with children between ages 3 and 5

-Experience teaching mixed-age and -ability classrooms
-Background in science or art
