L3fVho8e_400x400CIANA (Center for the Integreation & Advancement of New Americans) is a non-profit immigrant service provider in Astoria. We are looking for someone with an education background to fill a part-time, paid position at our after-school middle school program funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development.

Job Description: The Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the program and creating a fun, safe, and educational environment for youth. He/she will manage and train a small staff and volunteers, monitor their performance, and successfully implement the programmatic and administrative components of the program. This position will report directly to the CEO.

Requirements: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in any field of study required, as long as you can show that 12 credit hours were successfully completed in early childhood, child development or a related field.

  • One year of teaching experience required, preferably with middle school aged children
  • At least one year of experience supervising staff required.
  • Must be available Monday-Friday from 3:00p.m. – 6:30p.m.
  • Experience with youth programming, curriculum development, monitoring, assessing, tracking, and operating a youth program.

Duties:

  • Work at the program site and facilitate the smooth implementation and day-to-day management/supervision of the program.
  • Ensure contract compliance, continuous quality improvement, and that program meets/surpasses required outcomes.
  • Supervise and train staff, develop program activities, recruit participants, and develop relationships with schools, parents, community organizations.
  • Prepare monthly management reports that identify critical program indicators;
  • Enforce program rules and discipline, protocols and procedures, and develop corrective action plans when needed.
  • Provide a safe and welcoming program environment conducive to an enriching educational experience.
  • Initiate parent meetings, and, when necessary, meetings with school personnel.
  • All other duties as needed to effectively meet the goals of the program.
