Calling for Participants for Dissertation Research Project

| November 21, 2017

I am a current Ed.D. candidate in the Department of Applied Linguistics at Teachers College (TC), Columbia University. I am currently collecting data for a research project (IRB protocol number: 18-016) for my dissertation. I need to recruit some participants who will be raters in my study to evaluate some spoken responses from the Aptis speaking test (https://www.britishcouncil.org/aptis-speaking-video).

To this end, I need participants who:

  • have earned or are working on their graduate-level degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics or a related field (e.g., Bilingual Education, English Education, etc.)

  • have a relatively good amount of experience in teaching English (preferably as a second language), scoring standardized language tests or formal assessment procedures, and participating in rater training procedures

The activities in my study take about 3.5 hours to complete depending on individual participants’ rate of progress, and I will pay each participant $40 in appreciation of their participation in ALL of the activities.

Potential participants are expected to participate in this study at TC.

I am attaching the the Recruitment Flyer of this study here. If anyone is interested in participating, please contact me via email (Qie.Han@tc.columbia.edu). I will send a link to a rater background survey, which will need to be completed for qualifications purposes.
