DREAM Charter School, a rigorous, K-8 public charter school in East Harlem, is seeking a dynamic and driven individual to serve as our After-School Program Manager. The Program Manager will be responsible for developing, expanding and overseeing DREAM’s after-school and summer programs. The Program Manager will also be responsible for developing external partnerships and assisting with the planning and execution of DREAM’s college awareness initiatives. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, creative thinker and has the ability to align great ideas to DREAM’s mission and vision and fully implement them.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Research best practices in elementary and middle school after-school and summer programs;
  • Identify and propose possible models for DREAM’s after-school and summer programs;
  • Develop a network of external after-school and summer program vendors including summer camps, teaching artists and specially-trained instructors;
  • Oversee DREAM’s after-school and summer programs including setting schedules, coordinating program activities and space usage, managing student behavior and discipline, monitoring external program staff, and maintaining daily attendance and enrollment;
  • Set after-school and summer program goals and participate in ongoing and annual program evaluation;
  • Develop and oversee external partnerships to increase educational opportunities for students during the school day;
  • Assist with the promotion of DREAM’s college awareness initiatives to include college tours and other college readiness events geared specifically to students in grades 6-8;
  • Provide support with all aspects of planning DREAM’s annual K-5 college tours, including staff tour assignments, itinerary preparation and securing school visits and on-campus accommodations.


  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Master’s in Education, Social Work, or other related field preferred;
  • 3-5 years of management (preferable in the youth space sector);
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience managing a team of direct reports or vendors;
  • Poised under pressure;
  • Strategic program thinker dedicated to achieving outcomes through quality programs;
  • Adaptable, flexible, great at problem solving;
  • Belief in the use of data to evaluate programs and their impact;
  • Strong written communication skills required;
  • Great public speaking skills required;
  • Ability to work well independently and drive projects with little supervision;
  • A commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students, including those at risk of educational failure;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
